One week training and Community data collection in Nairobi, Kenya
19 - 25 September 2021
Overview
A one-week training in Nairobi (Kenya) built on the expertise of the APHRC in community engagement in deprived areas, packaging data with and for decision-makers, and sustaining quality, routine, spatial data creation. The training built on community-based participatory mapping (e.g., using OpenStreetMap), engaging local citizens and volunteers, co-designing and implementing new area observation forms to add value to existing census and survey activities at minimal costs, and informing local policies. The mapping training will focused on the identification of actions to improve neighbourhoods, map problems (e.g. environmental risks) as well as assets of communities (linking to livelihoods).
